| MOTHERS DAY |
| MAY 11 |
What does mom want for Mother’s Day? Here are some traditional favorites. Flowering shrubs like Lilacs or Hydrangea. Rose bushes are nice for sunny yards. There are lots of different types and colors to choose from. Flowering trees including dogwoods, pears and cherries, not the fruiting kind just the pretty ones. Hanging Baskets full of annuals have the most color and she will be able to enjoy them thru fall. Sometimes mom needs accessories like garden gloves or kneelers. I bet she will remember who gave her the best present. So take some time out of your busy schedule and come to one of our stores and pick something up for mom. Not sure what to get we have got you covered there also with a Wentworth Nursery gift card. If you don’t have time to stop by just give us a call we can help you over the phone at 301-373-9245 ext. 2 or email me at mikep@wentworthnursery.com.

| May Honey Do's |
|
May Honey Do’s May is the most colorful month of the year here are a few things to help you keep everything beautiful. For the vegetable gardener May is a great month because now we can safely plant Tomatoes, remember to use lime to prevent blossom end rot. The rest of your garden should be planted before the month is over. The flower beds are now ready for annual color. Marigolds, vinca, begonias and coleus and so many more can now be planted and will bloom till fall frost. Plant in masses and always use plant starter for the best show of color. Mothers Day is May 11th! This is an important date to remember. First of all it is the one day set aside to remind Mom how much you appreciate her, but also we use this date to remind us to do a couple of things. First feed all of your trees and shrubs, we use Espoma’s Hollytone, Planttone, Treetone and Rosetone. The second thing is to but out your soaker hoses and timers. This will make maintaining your landscape the rest of the season much easier. May is also when we do some preventative insect control. Spray all non fruit baring shrubs, roses and evergreens with Isotox once this month. In the lawn we are putting down Grub Control and granular insect control. Lawns should be mowed twice a week with the blades set to cut the grass to 4 inches tall. This will cut down on the water needs and the weeds. For weed control over a large area use the pink bag lawn weed control. For small areas use Bayer lawn weed killer. To place an order or ask questions please email me at mikep@wentworthnursery.com or call 301-373-9245 ext 2.
